healing begins by being heard

therapy rooted in compassion & connection

A cozy living room corner featuring an upright wooden piano with a vintage appearance, near a large window with sheer curtains. To the left, there is a leather lounge chair with matching ottoman, a large potted plant with broad green leaves, a smaller snake plant in a gray pot, and a vintage fan on top of the piano. A round mirror hangs on the wall above the piano, and a red decorative rug partially covers the wooden floor.

Therapy for Individuals & Couples

About Me

A woman with shoulder-length blonde hair wearing a denim jacket and a white shirt, sitting on outdoor steps, smiling softly.

Hello! I’m Emily Mahoney, LCPC, LPMT, MT-BC, PMH-C. I’m a licensed counselor and music therapist in Maryland, with a particular focus on perinatal mental health, including the emotional transitions of pregnancy, postpartum, parenthood, and pregnancy or infant loss. I also work with anxiety, trauma, and grief and loss across different stages of life.

I hold advanced certifications in both perinatal mental health and trauma, and I bring a collaborative, creative, trauma-informed, and attachment-focused approach to therapy. I believe that meaningful healing happens through connection to ourselves, others, and to the parts of ourselves that may have been hurt, overwhelmed, or overlooked. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, the impact of past experiences, the transition into parenthood, or the pain of loss, I’ll meet you with empathy, curiosity, and respect for your unique story.

My goal is to create a space where you feel deeply seen, supported, and safe to show up fully as yourself. Together, we can build greater understanding of your emotions, body, relationships, and patterns while developing tools that help you feel more grounded, connected, and confident in yourself. As an LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming therapist, I strive to create an inclusive and culturally responsive space where your identity and lived experience are respected. I’m committed to ongoing learning so that my practice continues to grow alongside the people I serve.

Outside of the therapy room, I’m a millennial mom navigating my own challenges in parenthood. I enjoy Baltimore City life, Broadway musicals, farmers markets, travel, and coffee. I value time spent with family and in community, lifelong learning, and finding small moments of joy in everyday life.

Seeking therapy is an act of courage. You don’t have to have everything figured out before you begin. Wherever you are in your journey, I’m honored to walk alongside you as you move toward greater connection, confidence, and your own inner harmony.
